James Otis Turner, 49, claimed to be a player named Dante Sir Foster, an undrafted wide receiver. Turner never played professional football, police said.

And Foster never played a snap for the Broncos. He has played on some other teams’ practice squads, according to the NFL’s website.

On Oct. 16, a Castle Rock resident reported to police that she had been defrauded of a large sum of money by a man claiming to be the former NFL player, the Castle Rock Police Department said in a news release.

The news release did not provide details on how Turner defrauded the woman or how much money was involved.

The arrest comes two months after Turner was arrested by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office in connection with an unrelated sexual assault, police said. As a result of the sheriff’s investigation, several women came forward alleging that Turner identified himself to them as a Broncos player, police said.
