Broncos LB Todd Davis reaches 100-tackle mark for first time

Undrafted in 2014.

Waived by the New Orleans Saints four times later that season.

A combined 31 tackles in his first two pro seasons.

But fast forward to now for Broncos linebacker Todd Davis: Reaching the century mark in tackles.

Davis entered Saturday night’s game against Cleveland with a team-high 100 tackles, which ranked 15th in the NFL. He is on track to lead the Broncos in tackles for the second time in three years (97 in 2016). Safety Justin Simmons is a distant second (84).

“It’s tough (to appreciate it) because it’s always more fun when you’re winning,” Davis said.

But …

“I feel really blessed to have 100 tackles for the first time,” he said.

The Broncos are getting their money’s worth with Davis, who signed a three-year, $15 million contract in March.

Already recognized as a solid cog in the Broncos’ 3-4 base defense, Davis has added more playing time to his plate this year because of Brandon Marshall’s knee injury that first limited his playing time and then shelved him for more than a month.
