Denver Broncos eliminated from playoff contention

The Denver Broncos have been eliminated from the 2018 postseason after leaving their fate in the hands of other teams following their loss to the Browns.

The Denver Broncos’ playoff hopes have fizzled down to nothing. The Broncos were out-played by the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night and that created a major problem for the team. They were then forced to rely on other outcomes across the AFC.

The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday 20-12, effectively ending any sort of playoff hopes the Broncos had prior to Sunday. With the Tennessee Titans shutting out the New York Giants, the playoff chances ended.

If the Broncos had defeated the Browns Saturday, they would still mathematically be able to sneak into the playoffs as of this week. What would happen next week would have remained to be seen.

But now those dreams are gone and there should be many changes made to this team.

Many things have gone wrong this season for the Denver Broncos. It is never a good situation when you have to rely on the outcomes of other games.

Denver has been in some close games this season but were unable to pull off wins in most of them. They have been very up and down in 2018.

A team that has won against the likes of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Chargers, was unable to come up with wins against the Browns and 49ers in back-to-back weeks.

It is likely that the end is near for multiple employees on the Broncos coaching staff. Denver needs to have a spark. There are going to be many new faces on the team in 2019.

This marks the third consecutive season in which the Broncos miss the postseason. They will need to win their final two games in order to avoid their first back-to-back losing seasons since 1972.

Next: Broncos loss to Browns likely to cost jobs

At this point, it is unfortunately very difficult to see the team avoiding this. They have not played well on a consistent basis. They just can’t get over the hump and win close games or games they should win. Now, Denver will play out the rest of the season without any playoff chances.

The end is likely near for multiple employees on the Broncos, coaches and players. The team needs a spark. Whatever happens, though, it won’t matter.

On to Oakland. On to the Los Angeles Chargers. On to 2019.
