The Denver Broncos met with BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki after an East-West Shrine Game practice this week, according to Trevor Sikkema of Pewter Report.
Takitaki (6-2, 230 pounds) recorded 241 tackles — including 33.5 tackles for losses — and 15.5 sacks during his four years with the Cougars. He also broke up five passes and forced two fumbles.
“[Takitaki] provides ideal pass rush off the edge and appears flexible when bending the corner, and can win with his hands as well,” according to Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez. “The BYU product is a disciplined defender that is cognizant of his run gap responsibilities and edge containment.”
With Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents this offseason, the Broncos could certainly use more depth at outside linebacker. Takitaki may be one of the team’s targets in April.
