Three Browns, Broncos CB fined for acts in Week 15 game

The NFL fined Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Jamie Collins ($26,739 for unnecessary roughness), wide receiver Antonio Callaway ($10,026 for unsportsmanlike conduct) and wide receiver Breshad Perriman ($10,026 for unsportsmanlike conduct) after last week’s game against the Denver Broncos according to Scott Petrak.

Broncos cornerback Jamar Taylor, who played for Cleveland from 2016-17, was also docked $10,026 for unnecessary roughness on the play that prompted his ejection from the game.

Collins was flagged midway through the first quarter for lowering his helmet to initiate contact on Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton. Denver scored a touchdown on the drive. The 13th play was a 1-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Case Keenum.

Callaway caught a pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield in the third quarter. After a 12-yard catch, Callaway was hit with a 15-yard taunting penalty after an interaction with cornerback Bradley Roby. The 15-play drive ended with a strip sack by Denver defensive tackle Adam Gotsis.

With less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, Perriman was hit with an off-setting unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. It was a rather tacky call but it was critical nonetheless. The confrontation occurred after a three yard run by running back Nick Chubb. Broncos cornerback Jamar Taylor was ejected for his involvement in the play. The Browns punted on the drive.

Cleveland finished with eight penalties worth 51 yards. They rank in the top half of the NFL for most penalties this season.

To recap, Cleveland allowed a touchdown on the drive with a defensive penalty. Their two drives with an offensive penalty resulted in zero points.
